The Institute of Directors in Tanzania (IoDT) is the champion of corporate governance in Tanzania and the leading authority in corporate training with a growing- client portfolio, standing as the leading directors’ and senior executives’ focus group in Tanzania, the IoDT undertakes to propagate, promote and enhance corporate governance as a practice in Tanzania. With more than 10 years of practice, The IoDT has successfully trained and certified more than 2500 directors across the country and conducted board induction, leadership and management training with the major public and private institution in the country.

About Us

Empowering Leadership for a Stronger Tanzania

The IoDT was incorporated in September 2010 and formally launched in May 2012 by H.E. Mohammed G. Bilal, the Vice-President of the Tanzania, at the Grand Hyatt Dar es Salaam.

The Institute is a voluntary and unique nationwide membership organization for directors in their individual professional capacity. Its mission is to champion best business practices and effective corporate governance through professional development and certification programmes, workshops, networking events, advocacy, and thought leadership, while supporting Tanzania as an attractive destination for foreign direct investment. It also serves as the voice of directors across both private and public sector enterprises.

The role the IoDT aims to play in society is reflected in its vision. Its slogan, “Better Boards, Better Businesses, Better Tanzania,” reflects its core purpose and the belief that strengthening leadership and governance will ultimately contribute to a more prosperous Tanzania.
