1. CERTIFICATE IN DIRECTORSHIP (CiDir) COURSE

The CiDir Course is a 5-day Course which aim at transforming the Tanzanian director into corporate governance professional at the stage of his career where he is required to display knowledge and expertise. It provides a comprehensive curriculum on the boards role and function plus the directors duties and responsibility. It therefore serves to ensure that executive and non- executive director adhere to corporate governance best practices.

Targeted people:

Directors/Prospective directors (commissioners/members of advisory boards); Corporate Secretaries; Senior Executives; Senior Management; Audit Partners/Managers; Current and prospective Governance Consultants

Objectives of the CiDir Course are to:

  • Provide participants with up-to-date materials, best practice and practical insights into Governance and Board leadership;
  • Develop directorship skills and values for application within your organization;
  • Equip directors to learn though working together to resolve increasingly challenging corporate board situations;
  • Promote communication of Governance and Board leadership concepts and processes;
  • Transfer leadership abilities to boards.

Fee

The CiDir Course Fee is TZS 2,980,000/= (Two Million Nine Hundred and Eighty Thousand Only) per participant. This fee covers tuition and materials - hard copies, accommodation for 5 nights (bed & breakfast), conference for 5 days (lunch, 2 tea breaks and refreshments). Participants will be responsible for their own transport.

On finishing the course, the participants will be eligible for a certificate of completion from the IoDT.


2. MASTERY IN DIRECTORSHIP (MDir) COURSE

The MDir is a 3 - day facilitated programme which aims at capacitating ad improving directors competence from their intermediate to senior and chairman level. It also strengthens chairmen competence and capacity. The course drills down on issues introduced during the Certification in Directorship (CiDir) Course and expands and covers standalone issues which were not fully dealt with during the CiDir. Through discussions and pragmatic experience-sharing, facilitators and participants explore and analyze potential solutions, tools and effective practices.

MDir Programme is specifically designed for more seasoned board and senior management members specifically those who have already completed our Certification in Directorship (CiDir) Programme. Otherwise, those who can qualify should have a minimum of 5 years experience and are seeking to further develop their knowledge and professional development, and who can enrich the sessions by sharing their experiences with their peers.

IoDT Certified Directors, Board Chair and vice chair

Objectives of the MDir Course are:

  • To help build board member effectiveness and capabilities through the sharing of best practices and experiences.
  • To update and refresh the certified directors corporate governance and leadership knowledge to better sustain their role in the effective and efficient stewardship of their organizations.

The MDir Course Fee is TZS 2,500,000/= (Two Million Five Hundred Thousand Only) per participant, covering only tuition, materials (hard copy) and conference for 3 days. Participants will be responsible for their own transport and accommodation.

On finishing the course, the participants will be eligible for a certificate of co certificate of attendance from the IoDT.


3. BOARD SECRETARY COURSE (BSC)

It has been said that the board secretary is neither a member of the executive team, nor a member of the board; s/he is the interface between the two. His/her role is critically important for the board to effectively perform and drive the competitive and performance excellence of the organization. S/he is the gatekeeper of corporate governance excellence of the organization. S/he needs skills and knowledge beyond that of a lawyer, accountant, corporate governance or compliance specialist. The best board secretary is the keeper of secrets and a prized strategic and influential advisor who help boards navigate the right path by avoiding risk, complying with or exceeding regulatory standards and remain faithful to organization goals and values.

Targeted people:

Chief Executive Officers who are de jure the secretaries to Boards, Councils or Commissions or relevant organizations /entities; De facto secretaries to the Boards, councils or Commissions; Company and corporate secretaries; Chief Officers or Heads of Departments who prepare reports to, or papers for, Boards, Councils or Commissions, Secretaries to Board Committees; Executive Assistants to the Chief Executive Officer

Objectives of the MDir Course are:

In light of the above, the BSC therefore seeks to enhance the knowledge, skills and competencies of both de jure and de facto secretaries and assist them to:

  • Understand better the board and its workings, roles, responsibilities and obligations of directors.
  • Learn how to prepare and package board information so as the board can effectively monitor and evaluate corporate strategy, risk, performance and company financial position.
  • Learn how to manage the conflicting roles between what the Board wants to, and must, know and what management wants the Board to know.
  • Understand how to better enhance the performance and effectiveness of the Board, facilitate effective board meetings, and ensure accurate recording, dissemination and implementation of board decisions and resolutions; plus many other additional, unique and very useful skills.
