BRIEF BIOS OF THE COURSE FACILITATORS
Col (rtd.) Joseph L. Simbakalia.
Col (rtd.) Joseph L. Simbakalia is current Director General of Tanzania Export Processing Zones Authority (EPZA), Member of the Joint Task Force (“JTF”), past Regional Commissioner of Mtwara and Kigoma. He boasts several years’ experience in the civil service. He is a Registered Professional Engineer (ERB – Tanzania) and a Chartered Engineer (UK),
Certified Director by the Commonwealth Association for Good Corporate Governance (CAGCG) since 2002, successfully completed the Training of Trainers Directors’ Course of Corporate Governance under the auspices of CAGCG in 2003. He has facilitated Directors’ Courses at the Kenya Centre for Corporate Governance and the Leadership and Corporate Governance for SADC Development Finance Institutions in 2005. He was a Speaker/Presenter at the 3rd Pan-African Consultative Forum in Corporate Governance held in Dakar Senegal. He also serves on a number of boards of public and private sector entities.
Mr. Andulile J. Mwakalyelye.
Mr Andulile J. Mwakalyelye holds an M.A. Economics (University of Dar es Salaam); Certificates from the Centre for Corporate Governance (CCG) Kenya and the Institute of Corporate Governance of Uganda. He is non-Executive Director and Chair of the Credit Committee, Azania Bank Limited. He is also the Vice-Chairperson of the Governing Council and Chair of the Audit Committee of the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange
(DSE). He is non-Executive Director and Chair of the Credit Committee, Azania Bank Limited. He is also the Vice-Chairperson of the Governing Council and Chair of the Audit Committee of the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE). He has been the national Economist of the UNDP Tanzania Office; Resident Vice President and Head of Credit Risk at Citibank, Tanzania; Head of Credit and Member of the Executive Committee of Stanbic Bank Tanzania Ltd and Head of Credit Risk at NMB Bank. He has wide experience as a Resource Person, having undertaken Contractors Registration Board Annual Consultative Meetings and Association of African Development Finance Institutions, AADFI, among others.
Dr Frederick Ringo.
(Dr Jur., Konstanz University, Germany) past DG of Fair Competition Commission. He is an Advocate of the High Courts of Tanzania and Zanzibar and has over 20 years’ experience in corporate and commercial law. The former lecturer at the University of Dar-es-Salaam has worked as legal counsel with the Africa Export Import Bank in Cairo, Egypt and the defunct Parastatal Sector Reform Commission (PSRC); has been a board
member for number of public and private sector boards including those of the National Board of Accountant and Auditors and that of Dar es salaam Stock Exchange. Dr Ringo is member of the Tanganyika Law Society; Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Tanzania) and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK).
Amb. Mumba S. Kapumpa.
He is past Board Member, Executive Director, past President of the Institute of Directors in Zambia and fellow of the IoDZ; former Zambia’s ambassador to South Korea (2014-2017). He boasts more than 30 years’ experience in the civil service, having served as the first Treasury Counsel. He later became the Chief Executive of the Securities and Exchange Commission. He has served as the Chairman of the African
Capital Markets Forum, a continental think tank for research, development and promotion of Capital Markets.He also lectures on Corporate Governance at Cavendish University, Zambia. He has chaired conferences on Corporate Governance in Zambia, UK, Sri Lanka, France, India, Southern Africa and Tanzania. He has developed Board Charters, Strategic Business plan and training modules for the Government, Board Members and CEOs of local and regional corporations. His articles in Law Development, Capital Markets and Governance have appeared in local and international magazines and journals.
Mr Oswald M. Urassa.
Mr Urassa holds a CPA (T) – Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in international banking and finance of the University of Birmingham – UK. From a tutorial assistant, he later became a senior lecturer position at IFM before joining the DSM Stock Exchange as a Finance & Operations Manager. He was then recruited at the National Microfinance Bank as the Head of Treasury and later its Investor
Relations Head. He has been a honorary secretary, vice chairman and presently the Chairman of Tanzania Association of Accountants. He is also a board member at Rasilimali Ltd and Government Employees Provident Fund (GEPF). While boasting of a substantial experience in financial training and consultancy, specifically corporate finance, tax, auditing and governance; he has also been a resource person for prominent local corporations such as Azania bank, GEPF, TIOB; NBAA and Contractors Registration Board (CRB). He has published extensively in local, regional and international journal of finance and management.
Dr. Abdulrahman Nkoba.
Dr. Abdulrahman Nkoba holds a PhD degree in Economics of the University of Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) and MBA (Finance) of Linz University (Austria). He has been working with institutions of higher learning [University of Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar University and Institute of Finance Management]. He is currently working with the Institute of Finance and Management at a senior lecturer position. His core areas
of expertise are Finance, Banking and Economics with a good number of publications in these areas. He has been a renowned resource person with the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA) for decades to the present.
Mr. Said Baraka Kambi.
Mr. Said Baraka Kambi is the founding CEO of the Institute of Directors in Tanzania (loDT). He is an experienced business consultant, ex-banker and a certified trainer with the Global Corporate Governance Forum (GCGF) of the International Finance Corporation (IFC). Apart from chairing the Africa Corporate Governance Network (ACGN) – a Johannesburg-based network of 19 national director training institutes
from Africa – he also serves on a number of boards of public and private sector entities.
Dr. Eliamani Laltaika.
Dr. Eliamani Laltaika is a holder of a PhD in Intellectual Property Law from the University of Bayreuth, Germany (2012) where he was a recipient of the prestigious Max Planck scholarship and a full time resident researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property and Innovation (formerly Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property
and Competition Law) in Munich. He is also a holder of a Master of Laws in Intellectual Property and Competition Law, (LLM-IP) from the Munich Intellectual Property Law Centre MIPLC-a joint programme of the George Washington University Law School, USA, University of Augsburg, and the Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property and Innovation) Munich, Germany (2007) Master of Laws in Environmental Law (LLM-Environmental Law), from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa 2005 and a Bachelor degree in Law LLB from the University of Iringa ( formerly Tumaini University, Iringa University College, Tanzania) 2003. Dr. Eliamani Laltaika is an adjunct faculty member of the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) Arusha Tanzania where he has been teaching Cybersecurity Law, Intellectual Property, Bioethics and Biodiversity Law and Policy since 2013. He is an Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania and a senior research fellow of the Open African Innovation Research (open AIR) a think tank based at the University of Cape Town, South Africa.
Dr. Jabiri Kuwe Bakari.
Dr. Jabiri Kuwe Bakari is currently the CEO of the e-Government Agency, Tanzania. He has a PhD, in Computer and Systems Sciences from the Stockholm University, Sweden (2007), a MSc. (Eng.) Data Communication Degree from the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Sheffield University in UK (1999), and a BSc.
Computer Science Degree from the University of Dar-es-Salaam Tanzania (1996). His imprints of experience include that in technical, management and leadership posts in public sectors, also has over eighteen years of experience as an ICT management researcher, analyst, advisor and consultant. He is the Certified Member of the IoDT – he also serves on a number of boards of public sector entities.
Neemayani Sanare Kaduma.
Neemayani Sanare Kaduma is an Associate Director with PricewaterhouseCoopers Tanzania. She has over 17 years of experience in providing IT risk assurance services entailing IT audits, IT projects assurance, cybersecurity management, business controls advisory and
data analytics. Neemayani has led numerous such assignments in both the private and public sectors and has spent 2 years serving clients in South Africa and Swaziland. Neemayani is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and holds a Computer Science degree and an MBA from the University of Warwick, UK. She is also a certified lead implementer of ISO 27001 – Information Security standard. She is currently a board member of the ISACA chapter in Tanzania in which she previously served as the chapter President.
Zachary Omukala is a corporate governance professional specializing on Finance and Risk Management. A Lead Facilitator for the IoD Kenya on Board Leadership, Risk Management and Financial Stewardship. He is also a fellow of the Kenya institute of Management where he serves
on the technical committee for the company of the year programme. Previously Zack was the Managing Director for the BCDI bank Rwanda. Prior to that He worked as the Head of Retail Performance for Barclays Africa and as the CEO for Kenya Times Newspaper. Currently Zack is the chairman of the Finance committee s of YWCA-Kenya Board and is also a Board Member for Fortune Credit, and Kingston Capital. He is the Founder of Apollo Power Kenya Ltd.) Dr. Chris Mauki.
Dr. Chris is a facilitator and trainer from Dar es Salaam Tanzania, he has an experience of more than 13 years in training, facilitation and coaching. Dr. Chris holds a PhD in Psychology and his research areas are social psychology, counseling and relationships. He is currently doing his Post – Doctoral
research with the University of Pretoria on the same areas. Dr. Chris has attended a number of conferences, workshops and seminars and in several of them he was a facilitator or presenter. Apart of being an author, coach and counselor, Dr. Chris has trained a number of corporate companies within and outside Tanzania, some of them include Vodacom, TCC, AAR, TBL and PUMA Energy. He also trains government institutions and ministries. In addition, Dr. Chris is a senior associate consultant and trainer to a number of national and multinational corporate companies such as ATE, Lindam and ICAS. His training areas includes Customer services, stress management, change management, conflict management, work-life balance, life skills, family matters, relationships, emotional intelligence, employee engagement and peak performance to mention a few.
Phylisiah Mnene Mcheni SPHR, SHRM-SCP.
Phylisiah is a Change and Human Resource Management professional with over 15 years of experience. Her passion is providing Change and HR solutions for her clients by helping them build their HR infrastructure through technology, compliance and people. Phylisiah also enjoys consulting with early stage venture.
Prior to being the CEO and founder of IRIS Executive Development Centre and P-Marine Fishing Inc. Phylisiah held several corporate HR leadership positions in energy, manufacturing, banking and Telecom. She is also certified as a Master Leadership Trainer with Master Trainer Institute and a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR, SHRM-SCM). Phylisiah is an active member and pioneer of the Annual Tanzania Human Resource Summit. Phylisiah is currently pursuing an MBA with Edinburgh Business School.
